There were so many inspiring speeches, but today we’ll be highlighting one of the most powerful acceptance speeches from the documentary film “No Other Land”. アカデミー賞は、LAの雇用を生み出したり、活気づけたりする役割もあります。その中で、災害の被害と華やかなセレブレーションのバランスをとることを配慮され、開催されました。グラミー賞に引き続き、優れた作品やアーティスト、監督たちからは、勇気・ハードワーク・社会貢献・チームワーク・コミュニケーション・ストーリーの力など様々なことを学ぶことができます。今年は特に「他者を理解する力」というテーマが大きくフィーチャーされたように感じます。

「ダイバーシティーコミュニケーション」については、未来の子供達を育てる上で大切な「１０の力」のキーワードの５番目としてもこの番組で取り上げることが多いテーマです。

✔️ 主演女優賞を25歳で獲得したマイキー・マディソンの魅力は？

✔️ 衣装デザイン賞などを受賞したミュージカル映画「WICKED」のシンシア・エリヴォは”Defying Gravity“、アリアナ・グランデは”Over the rainbow”で、二人が華々しくオープニングを飾りました。印象は？

✔️ 映画「名もなき者　A Complete Unknown」でボブ・ディランを演じたティモシー・シャラメは、ジパンシーのレモンイエローのカスタムスーツでガールフレンドのカイリー・ジェンナーと登場！

✔️ 主演男優賞は、映画「ブルータリスト」のエイドリアン・ブロディーが獲得し惜しくも今回は逃しましたが、ティモシーの才能と魅力は映画館で観てよかった。その理由は？

✔️ エイドリアンのスピーチも素晴らしかったのですが、今回は、長編ドキュメンタリー映画賞に輝いた「ノー・アザー・ランド　故郷は他にない」の受賞スピーチをPICK UP!

✔️ ガザでの紛争については、ニュースソースからの情報だけでなく、SNSでも世界の友人たちが毎日のように声をあげています。とてもデリケートな問題です。

✔️ 今回は番組ができることとして、製作者側の生の声を一緒に英語で理解できるようにすることが平和の一歩につながると感じました。１文ずつスピーチの翻訳と、難しい単語の説明を加えながらご紹介します。

BASEL ADRA: Thank you to the Academy for the award. It’s such a big honor for the four of us and everybody who supported us for this documentary.

About two months ago, I became a father. And my hope to my daughter, that she will not have to live the same life I am living now, always fearing — always — always fearing settlers’ violence, home demolition and forceful displacements that my community, Masafer Yatta, is living and facing every day under the Israeli occupation.

No Other Land reflects the harsh reality that we have been enduring for decades and still resist as we call on the world to take serious actions to stop the injustice and to stop the ethnic cleansing of Palestinian people.

YUVAL ABRAHAM: We made this — we made this film, Palestinians and Israelis, because together our voices are stronger. We see each other — the atrocious destruction of Gaza and its people, which must end; the Israeli hostages brutally taken in the crime of October 7th, which must be freed.

When I look at Basel, I see my brother. But we are unequal. We live in a regime where I am free under civilian law and Basel is under military laws that destroy his life and he cannot control.

There is a different path: a political solution without ethnic supremacy, with national rights for both of our people.

And I have to say, as I am here: “The foreign policy in this country is helping to block this path.”　

And, you know, why? Can’t you see that we are intertwined, that my people can be truly safe if Basel’s people are truly free and safe?

There is another way. It’s not too late for life, for the living. There is no other way. Thank you.
